A legal answering service that takes the intake before the caller calls the next firm
Vomenta answers your law firm's phone with an AI agent that asks your intake questions in order, saves the answers as a lead and texts the summary to the attorney. It gives no legal advice, and it rings your staff in the app when a caller needs a person.

How the AI takes a new-client intake
The agent asks the questions your intake form asks, in the order you set, and stops where a lawyer has to take over.
- 01
It answers as your firm
The call rings the agent directly, or reaches it from a call flow after hours and when your receptionist is on another line. It greets the caller with your firm's name and asks how it can help.
- 02
It asks your intake questions in order
Matter type, the name of the other party, the key dates the caller knows, where the matter is and how the caller found you. You write the list per practice area; the agent follows it.
- 03
It does not give legal advice
When a caller asks whether they have a case, the agent says that an attorney will review the details and call back. It records the question as part of the lead instead of answering it.
- 04
It saves the lead and texts the summary
The answers are saved as a lead in your CRM and on the contact. The agent sends an SMS or email summary to the attorney or intake coordinator you set, and texts the caller your office details.
- 05
It rings your staff when a person is needed
An existing client with an urgent matter, or any caller who asks for a person, is transferred. Your staff's phones ring in the Vomenta app, and the agent stays with the caller until someone answers.
When a person is needed. An existing client with an urgent matter is passed to a person. The AI rings your staff in the app and shares the summary when they answer.
Calls a virtual receptionist for lawyers handles
For law firms and solo attorneys that lose new clients to the next listing when the phone goes to voicemail.
New client intake
The AI asks your intake questions in order: matter type, the other party, deadlines and how the caller found you. It saves the answers as a lead.
Existing-client updates
It identifies the caller by phone number and takes a message for the attorney with the case reference.
Scheduling requests
It records the preferred consultation time and sends the request to your office by email.
Case status questions
It finds the client by phone number and reads back the last update your staff recorded on the contact. It does not interpret deadlines or filings.
Court, clerk and opposing counsel calls
It takes the message with the case reference and emails it to the responsible attorney at once.
Consultation fee and practice-area questions
It answers from your knowledge base: which matters you take, what a first consultation costs and what to bring.
Billing and invoice questions
It looks up the invoice, reads back the balance and the due date, and emails a copy on request.
Three calls to a law firm answering service
The tool lines show what the agent does in your systems while it talks. The wording is yours to set in the instructions.
- Caller“I was in a car accident last week and I want to know if I have a case.”
- AI agent“I'm sorry to hear that. I can take the details for the attorney. Were you injured, and has any insurer contacted you?”
- Caller“Whiplash, and yes, the other driver's insurer called twice.”
- AI agent“Thank you. What is the other driver's name, and what date was the accident?”
- ToolCreate lead in CRM
- ToolSend SMS to the intake attorney
- AI agent“An attorney will review this and call you within one business day. I've texted you our office details.”
- Caller“Hi, it's Dana Ruiz. Any news on my hearing date?”
- ToolLook up contact
- AI agent“Hello Dana. The last note on your file says the clerk has not set a date yet. I'll let Mr. Okafor know you called. Is this number the best one to reach you?”
- ToolSend email to the attorney
- Caller“Do you handle landlord disputes, and what does a consultation cost?”
- ToolSearch knowledge base
- AI agent“Yes, we take landlord-tenant matters. A 30-minute consultation is $150, and it is credited to your retainer if you go ahead. Would you like me to request a time for you?”

Set the numbers and addresses that receive SMS and email, the CRM for leads and the team that gets the ring when a person is needed.
- 04
Point your number at it
Forward your existing number, or add a time-check step to your call flow so only after-hours and overflow calls reach the agent. Then call it from your own phone.

- Your intake questions, per practice area, in the order you want them asked
- Consultation fee, whether the first consultation is free, and what to bring
- Retainer and payment options
- The sentence to use when a caller asks for legal advice
- Office hours, locations and parking
- Who receives the intake summary for each practice area
AI or a human answering service for lawyers?
A live answering service puts an operator on the call. Vomenta puts an AI agent on it, with your own team one ring away.
| Human answering service | Vomenta AI answering service | |
|---|---|---|
| Answer time | Callers wait when operators are busy, and a potential client rarely waits. | Every call is answered at once, including the three that arrive during a hearing. |
| Intake quality | An operator fills a generic form and relays it. | The agent asks your questions in order, saves the lead and texts the summary to the attorney. |
| Legal advice | Operators are told not to give it. | The agent is instructed not to give it, and the transcript shows what it said. |
| Confidentiality | Call notes live with the answering service. | Transcripts and recordings stay in your workspace. Card and ID numbers are masked, and you set the retention and deletion rules. |
| Who takes over | The service's operators, who do not know your clients. | Your own staff, rung in the app with the caller already identified. |
| Pricing | Per call or per minute, often with a higher legal-intake tier. | $64 per month for the smallest setup, plus 1.5¢ per inbound minute and AI usage. |
Legal answering service pricing
A fixed monthly price per seat plus metered usage. There is no per-call fee and no after-hours surcharge.
The smallest setup is one Starter seat ($29) plus the AI Voice Agent add-on ($35): $64 per month, plus 1.5¢ per inbound minute and AI usage.
AI usage is billed at the provider's cost plus 30%, or with no markup when you use your own provider key.
Legal answering service: common questions
How does the AI handle new-client intake?
You write the intake questions per practice area, and the agent asks them in that order: matter type, the other party, key dates, location and how the caller found you. It saves the answers as a lead in your CRM and on the contact, texts or emails the summary to the attorney you set, and tells the caller when to expect a callback.
Does it give legal advice?
No. The instructions tell the agent to say that an attorney will review the matter and call back, and it records the caller's question as part of the lead. The transcript shows every word the agent said, so you can check it.
Does it run a conflict check?
No. The agent records the name of the other party so your staff can run the conflict check before the attorney calls back. It does not search your matters or decide whether a conflict exists.
Is the call confidential?
Transcripts and recordings are stored in your Vomenta workspace, and only the roles you allow can open them. Card numbers, IBANs and national ID numbers are masked in transcripts. You set recording consent, retention periods and deletion rules per data type.
Can it book consultations into my calendar?
If your practice management or booking software has an API, the agent can create the appointment through a custom HTTP tool. There is no ready-made connector for Google or Microsoft calendars yet. Without an API, the agent records the preferred time and emails the request to your office.
What does it cost for a solo attorney?
One Starter seat at $29 per month plus the AI Voice Agent add-on at $35 per agent per month, which is $64 per month. Calls are metered at 1.5¢ per inbound minute, and AI usage is billed at the provider's cost plus a markup, or with no markup on your own provider key. There is no per-call fee.
Does it speak Spanish?
You can choose from more than 30 languages or let the engine detect the caller's language. Coverage depends on the engine you pick, and greetings and call endings are tuned for English and Turkish. Make a Spanish test call during the trial before you point your number at the agent.
How long does setup take?
An afternoon for most firms. Write the instructions and the intake questions, upload the seven knowledge-base items listed above, set who receives the summaries, and point your number at the agent. The 14-day free trial includes $25 of usage credit and needs no credit card.
